Otolaryngologists are physicians trained in the medical and surgical management and treatment of patients with diseases and disorders of the ear, nose, throat (ENT), and related structures of the head and neck. They are commonly referred to as ENT physicians.
ENT specialists focus exclusively on issues affecting the ears, nose, throat, head, and neck—and use advanced diagnostic tools and treatments tailored to these areas.
Consider seeing an ENT specialist if you experience persistent symptoms like chronic sinus congestion, hearing loss, dizziness, voice changes, frequent ear infections, snoring, or difficulty swallowing.
Treatment ranges from medications (e.g., nasal sprays, decongestants) and home remedies, to minimally invasive procedures like balloon sinuplasty or more advanced surgeries such as Functional Endoscopic Sinus Surgery (FESS).
Balloon sinuplasty is a minimally invasive, in-office procedure that widens sinus passages without cutting tissue. It offers quicker recovery, reduced pain, and fewer complications compared to traditional sinus surgery.
A deviated septum occurs when the nasal partition is off-center, causing breathing issues, congestion, snoring, or sinus infections. The corrective procedure, septoplasty, is commonly performed by ENT specialists to restore proper airflow.
If sinus headaches persist beyond 10 days, are accompanied by fever, facial swelling, vision changes—or don’t respond to over-the-counter treatments—you should consider consulting an ENT specialist. Surgical options may then be explored.
